The 2-1 win over Cyprus in the World Cup qualifying group seems to have happened ages ago after the team’s poor performance has only increased the pressure on the manager Stojanovič. The pressure on him increased even more after the recent match against Macedonia. It was a friendly match, but still Slovenia were unable to manage a victory.

The Sheffield Wednesday player Nejc Pecnik was a key player in the match, and he was one of the best players for Slovenia as well. He scored in his defeat, but was unable to prevent the team from losing in the end. Stojanovič had resorted to using a number of unused players in order to find fresh faces for the first time. Even though the team was extremely good in their attacking sense – by scoring two goals, the defending was extremely poor. It has raised more questions than answers, as they have now conceded a goal in all matches since their last clean sheet more than a year ago.

Tasevski opened the scoring for Macedonia in the 27th minute, when the lead was soon extended by Jahovic in the 44st minute. However, the Sheffield Wednesday player Nejc Pecnik pulled one goal back soon after the interval to give Slovenia some hope in the match. He then scored his second goal of the night on either side of the goal from Ibraimi. Even though there was more than 20 min for Slovenia to try and score the equaliser, it was not enough from them. Hence, they managed to lose yet another match, as pressure mounted on the manager.
