Slovenia managed to reach the group stages of the Euro Cup

Back in 2000, Slovenia managed to reach the group stages of the Euro’s and this was the furthest that the national side has reached in it’s history. From there on out, the Slovenian nation has never been able to even qualify or it make it any better than their 13th position that they reached over 14 years ago and the same can be said with their World Cup record as the group stages is the best spot that they have reached.

Slovenia is attempting to qualify and secure their ticket to France which is going to be the location of the approaching 2016 Euro’s and were pitted in Group E along with: England, Switzerland, Lithuania, Estonia and San Marino.

England are the favorites on finishing at the top spot and making it into the group stages of the 2016 Euro’s but the 2nd promotion spot is being tightly contested between Slovenia, Switzerland and Lithuania.

The Slovenian national football team is currently being coached by Srecko Katanec who is making his return after having being in charge of the national side a few years ago in 1998.

Katanec has experience in coaching national sides as he has already managed: Macedonia, United Arab Emirates and his current team Slovenia but rumors are now linking the Slovenia manager with Inter Milan.

Inter Milan is struggling to secure consistent victories with Roberto Mancini and unless Mancini can push the Italian team to a strong finish at the end of the season, he might be sacked even though he took charge of the club less than 5 months ago. Katanec has been considered to be a candidate of coaching Inter Milan since November when Walter Mazzari was removed from his coaching position.
