ATLETICO: OBLAK EARNS ANOTHER CLEAN SHEET

The Slovenia goalkeeper has shown his worth for Atletico Madrid in their quest to win the Spanish La Liga title this season ahead of more illustrious teams such as defending champions Real Madrid and immediate past champions Barcelona.

Slovenia national team shot stopper Oblak has been an ever present for Atletico Madrid this season. He has featured in every league game this season. As a matter of fact, he has played in all the Spanish La Liga and Champions League games for Atletico Madrid this season.

He has been immense in goal thereby providing the foundation for his team defensively. Slovenia goalkeeper Oblak has conceded just 20 goals in 32 games in the Spanish La Liga this term thus playing his part in giving Atletico Madrid the title of the team with the best defensive record ahead of Real Madrid (24 goals) and Barcelona (28 goals).

Oblak kept another clean sheet for Atletico Madrid in the 2-0 win over Huescain their latest league game played at the new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Thursday night. The result ensured that Atletico Madrid returned to the top of the La Liga table ahead of city rivals Real Madrid. Slovenia goalkeeper Oblak has now kept a clean sheet in each of his last two games in the league.

Angel Correa and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco were on target for Atletico Madrid either side of the half-time interval to give the leaders three big points in their quest to stay ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the title race.

Real Madrid had gone top briefly when they defeated hosts Cadiz 3-0 on Wednesday night. They are three points behind Atletico Madrid, while Barcelona are two points further back having played a game less than both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
